Private yoga classes are an ideal to begin your yoga practice or to advance your study. Prior to 1960, yoga was taught privately or only to a selected few until teachers like BKS Iyengar, Yogi Bhajan and Patabhi Jois broke with tradition and brought it to the West teaching group classes. Today, you can choose how you'd like to practice.
What happens during a private class that's different than a group class?
Yoga postures can always be adapted to suit an individual's specific needs. In private classes, you receive personal and detailed instruction to address mind and body. You will learn yoga poses and meditation tools to enhance peace of mind. You are also given exercises to complete when you are not practicing.
How do I prepare for a private class?
Like group classes, avoid large meals 3-4 hours before practicing. Set an intention for your private classes. Setting intentions crystallizes your expectations, for you and for the teacher.
What is the cost?
Private classes range from $75-150/hour depending on the specific program design.
